Tennessee, like the rest of the country, has been hit hard by the ongoing recession that has hurt our families, our factories and our communities. State lawmakers must make job creation and protection their top priorities. Only when we put Tennesseans back to work will we be able to start improving our quality of life and fulfilling our hopes of giving our children a better future.

Today, students must learn more than ever to be prepared for changing job markets in a volatile economy. A good education must do more than increase test scores — it must give our children the best chance possible to obtain a well-paying job and one day be able to provide for a family of their own.
