Tiffany Finney Kicks off Imagination Library Week

Tiffany Finney, wife of State Senator Lowe Finney, reads to children at Nova Elementary to kick off the Imagination Library Week in Tennessee.

JACKSON – Tiffany Finney, wife of State Senator Lowe Finney (D-Jackson), helped kick off the state’s fifth annual Imagination Library week by reading to first graders at Nova Elementary School in Jackson.

“A child’s love of reading will turn into a love of learning, which is the ultimate goal of the Imagination Library,” Tiffany said. “I’m just happy to be a small part of supporting that love and helping it grow.”

Tiffany read Peace Week in Miss Fox’s Class, by Eileen Spinelli, to Gay Chapman’s first-grade the day before Imagination Library Week officially began.

Imagination Library Week, Sept. 20-25, is designed to generate awareness of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails a new, age-appropriate, hardcover book every month to registered children from birth until age five at no cost to the family.

The program has partnered with the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation to provide more than 10 million free books to Tennessee children since 2004. For more information on the Imagination Library, visit www.imaginationlibrary.com.
