The National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee’s leading small business association, has endorsed Lowe Finney (Jackson) in the race for the 27th Senate District.
The endorsement was made by NFIB/Tennessee SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members. The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2. Senate District 27 includes Madison, Gibson and Carroll counties.
“Senator Finney is a strong supporter of small business in Tennessee with a perfect NFIB Voting Record,” said Jim Brown, state director of NFIB/Tennessee. “He demonstrated strong support for small business his first four years in office, including his leadership to call for the suspension and subsequent overhaul of the workers’ comp mandate on the construction industry. As a result, thousands of small subcontractors will stay in business and construction costs for Tennesseans will remain in check.
“Lowe Finney has helped achieve bipartisan solutions to small business problems, which our members appreciate. He has earned the strong support of the small business community in Senate District 27.”
Finney said, “I am grateful for the support of NFIB, the Voice of Small Business. I will continue to oppose burdensome policies, like the workers’ comp mandate in 2008, that make it difficult for small business to stay in business. Tennessee’s economy will continue to recover as we enable small businesses to create the jobs our community needs and attract the businesses that recognize our pro-growth policies.”
NFIB’s endorsement is critical to the Finney campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB has pledged it will activate its grassroots network on behalf of the Finney campaign. NFIB’s political support is based on the candidates’ positions and records on small business issues.
